Dear Members of the Service,

On May 27, 2005 at 0200 hours, P.O. Thomas Mitchell, 101 Precinct was involved in an RMP accident that left him “paralyzed from the neck down”. He and his partner were responding to a robbery in progress when the accident occurred at Rockaway Turnpike and Pearl Street.

Gaelic Football Game Friday Sept. 9 to benefit Officer Mitchell. Click for details and flyer.

Officer Mitchell, 31 year old, is an 8-year veteran of the NYPD. He is married and the father of an eight-month-old baby girl. Currently Tom is going through extensive therapy at the Kessler Rehabilitation Institute in New Jersey.

We are attempting to raise money to assist Tom and his family with many of the unforeseen expenses that will be incurred including extensive renovations to his house to meet his handicapped needs and the purchase of a converted van, once he comes home sometime in “2006”.

Please ask your members, supervisors, detectives, friends and relatives to purchase these vacation raffle tickets. The drawing will be held on Oct 21, 2005 at the 101 Pct.

Checks should be made payable to PO Thomas Mitchell Fund, c/o NYC PBA, 40 Fulton Street, 17th floor, New York, NY 10038, Attn: George Reynolds or Tony Keller.
