Fallen Teammates Honored In FDNY, NYPD Football Game

New York’s Finest faced New York’s Bravest on the gridiron Sunday for an annual football game that took on a special significance this year.

The friendly rivalry goes back 30 years, but Sunday’s game at Giants Stadium took on an especially emotional tone with a ceremony in honor of the players killed in the World Trade Center attack.

The numbers of the 22 players who perished, all active or retired members of the Fire Department, were retired as their framed jerseys were presented to their families.

The Police Department continued its domination over the Fire Department with a final score of 10-0 in front of 15,000 spectators.
