The $170,000-a-year chief of staff to city First Lady Chirlane McCray is being investigated after failing to disclose on a background check that she lives with a convicted felon.

The city Department of Investigation has opened an inquiry into Rachel Noerdlinger, The New York Times reported.

Noerdlinger failed to write on a background check questionnaire that she lives with Hassaun McFarlan, who was convicted of manslaughter as a teen and served time in prison for trafficking drugs, DNAinfo reported Thursday.

De Blasio administration officials have said Noerdlinger previously told them of her relationship with McFarlan.

Meanwhile, records show Noerdlinger fell behind on her federal taxes in 2007, racking up $28,190 in back taxes by 2009. The feds put a lien on her assets in 2011, and her lawyer says the single mom has kept up with the monthly payment schedule she worked out with the feds.
