McKenzie plays Detective James Gordon on Fox’s Batman prequel, which is shot in New York — and he also played a police officer on the critically acclaimed TV series 'Southland.' The amount of money raised by The News eclipsed the $63,000 mark Wednesday, with a late-evening pledge of $10,000 from Associated Food Stores, and 320 donations from readers in amounts ranging from $2 to $1,400.

'Gotham' star Ben McKenzie wants New Yorkers to contribute to the Daily News fund for the families of Officer Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.

Count “Gotham” star Ben McKenzie among those concerned New Yorkers contributing to the Daily News fund for the families of two slain NYPD heroes.

“Even after a tragedy like this, the generosity and spirit of New Yorkers shines through,” McKenzie told The News. “Please join me in donating to the Daily News fund to support the families of Officer Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.”

McKenzie plays Detective James Gordon on Fox’s Batman prequel, which is shot in New York — and he also played a police officer on the critically acclaimed TV series “Southland.”

The amount of money raised by The News eclipsed the $63,000 mark Wednesday, with a late-evening pledge of $10,000 from Associated Food Stores, and 320 donations from readers in amounts ranging from $2 to $1,400.

Every dollar collected will go directly to the families of the two officers gunned down simply for the color of their blue uniforms by a gun-toting killer.
