MIKE TAKES HITS ON TICKET BLITZ

By Stephanie Gaskell

The City Council will ask the Bloomberg administration to explain how it missed counting 128,729 quality-of-life summonses, said officials who were fuming over the hidden ticket blitz.

"It's a serious, serious issue when information released by the mayor's office is skewed," said Peter Vallone Jr., who chairs the Public Safety Committee.

"If we can't believe the statistics we're getting, that's a serious concern for all New Yorkers."

The new figures show a 20 percent jump in quality-of-life summonses, even though the mayor has continually denied that there's a ticket blitz.

Pat Lynch, president of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, said the new numbers prove what he's been saying - cops are required to write a certain number of tickets.
