Lillo's Lawyer Seeks a Trial

A lawyer for "Sopranos" actor Lillo Brancato claimed yesterday he's ready for trial and doesn't want his client languishing in prison.

Joseph Tacopina said he was confident Brancato "will eventually be released," after a hearing in Bronx Supreme Court.

Brancato and his cohort Steven Armento allegedly tried to break into a friend's house to get drugs last year, and fatally shot Officer Daniel Enchautegui when he came to investigate.

Pat Lynch, head of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, said Tacopina was stalling.

"What we're seeing today is an attorney saying he's ready for trial [but] putting through motion upon motion," he said.
