PBA PRESIDENT BLASTS THE DEPARTMENT
FOR DISCIPLINARY CHARGES WHEN THE
BRONX DA DECLINES TO PROSECUTE AN ARREST

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“A police officer’s job is to take criminals off the streets and the district attorney’s job is prosecute them and keep them off the streets.

Public safety would be vastly improved in the Bronx if the NYPD would put as much time and energy into pressing the Bronx DA to prosecute more cases as it does trying to blame its own officers.

As it stands now, cops are wasting more and more time documenting every little nuance of a police action just to protect themselves from the NYPD’s unreasonable disciplinary practices than they are actually fighting crime.”
