Re:  FICA Line of Duty Injury Reimbursement Update

We are informed by the City’s Office of Labor Relations that letters regarding reimbursements for FICA taxes paid for periods of authorized Line of Duty injury leave for six (6) months or less pursuant to the City’s settlement with the IRS covering years 1989 through 2005, are being sent to all affected members on February 5, 2007. (See sample letter).

Each affected individual will receive a statement of wages received as well as taxes paid, a sample copy of which is also posted herewith.  In addition, a consent form will be included which must be signed and returned to the Office of Payroll Administration (“OPA”) in the pre-addressed envelope included in the mailing by April 5, 2007.

Detailed information regarding this matter is still available on the OPA website http://www.nyc.gov/html/opa/html/home/home.shtml .  Members with questions can also call the OPA at (212) 669-2333.

Fraternally,

Patrick J. Lynch
President
