Responsible for the protection of life and property within detention facilities; deters and suppresses violations of laws within the facility and ensures rules are followed. Monitors and surveils inmates; performs inspections to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and agency standards. Prepares legal documentation and reports, processes fingerprints and pictures to ensure inmate identification, executes emergency plans, resolves disputes and performs necessary restraint techniques.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Corrections Department employees are required to work overtime, with and without notice, and must be available for emergency call-in overtime.

WORK SCHEDULE: Shift work, which may include varying hours, evening, nights, holidays and weekends.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION - In accordance with Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) standards.
FINAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT - Applicants with a disability who require accommodation within the application/interview process should direct a request in advance to Human Resources.
SELECTION PROCESS: Oral Board Interview which will constitute 100% of the final pass/fail selection weight. All offers of employment to external applicants and internal part-time to full-time or civilian to sworn candidates are also subject to and contingent upon successful completion of the CVSA/polygraph, background investigation, pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
DATE, TIME, AND LOCATION: The date, times, and location of each phase of the selection process will be announced, in writing, by Human Resources and/or Internal Affairs.
REVIEW AND APPEAL PROCESS: An appeal of a decision to disqualify an applicant shall be made in writing to the Human Resources Division Manager or designee within seven (7) calendar days after the decision that eliminated the candidate from the process. The appeal process is the only method to appeal these matters and is available to internal PBSO applicants exclusively.
