P.O. John D'Allara

Police Officer John D'Allara, 47, was appointed to the NYPD on July 25, 1983, and began his career on patrol in Neighborhood Stabilization Unit 7. Prior to joining ESU in 1987, he worked in the Patrol Borough Bronx Task Force and the 46 Precinct.
During his 14 years in ESU, he was involved in numerous rescue missions. With a passion for teaching, PO D'Allara earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in physical education from Lehman College and taught at Park West and Roosevelt High Schools in the Bronx. As a police officer he wrote the procedural manual for the ESU robot and taught others how to operate it. He was also a member of the FEMA team and a collector of police memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife Carol; children John and Nicholas; parents Helen and John; and twin brother Daniel.
