An NYPD officer was wounded in a Cypress Hills shooting Thursday afternoon, according to a police spokesperson.
CBS reports the incident took place at 4:54 p.m. near 149 Ridgewood Avenue in Brooklyn. According to the news network, the injured officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, but a spokesperson from NYPD could not immediately confirm additional details.
The suspect involved in the shooting is believed to have barricaded themselves inside after shooting police officer four times in the chest and once in the arm, according to PIX 11. While initial reports stated the officer involved as being female, a police spokesperson confirmed to DNAinfo that the injured officer is male and was shot in an area covered by his bulletproof vest.
