Hundreds of grieving cops and neighbors gathered at the 46th Precinct in The Bronx Saturday night — the NYPD home of tragic slain Officer Miosotis Familia.
“We never forget,” Assistant Chief Larry W. Nikunen, commanding officer of the Bronx patrol borough, told a crowd dotted with candles; mourners released blue and white balloons in the mom of three’s honor.
Familia was assassinated by a bullet to the head early Wednesday, three blocks from her precinct — fired by a cop-hating felon, Alexander Bonds, who was shot dead by officers who responded to the scene.
“Each and every day, police officers walk into this building and sacrifice of themselves,” Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, told the crowd.
“She has three kids,” noted neighbor Krista Ransom, 30. “No one deserves to bury their mother at such a young age.”
