In an interview about the NYPD's officer safety measures following the Dallas and Baton Rouge attacks, Pat Lynch once again called for police officers on routine patrol to be equipped with long guns, ballistic vest and helmets.  He cited FBI statistics showing that the vast majority of active shooter-style attacks are over before the NYPD's specialized units would be able to respond.
