Mighty Quinn: Jan. 14

The quotes of the week come from two Rosedale friends when talking about the passing of Steven McDonald:

“Rest In Peace, NYPD Detective Steven McDonald. My Godfather, Richard Nicastro, was Chief of Detectives for the City of New York in 1986 when Steven was shot in Central Park. When my Godfather passed away in March, 2014, Steven came to the funeral mass. Steven’s capacity for forgiveness was extraordinary. God bless you, Steven.” — Kathleen Masterson.

“Any of us who grew up in the '80's, and especially those of us from the Big Apple or the NYC area, know of Steven McDonald. He was a true American hero. Not because of what he did before he was shot, but because of the way he lived his life after becoming paralyzed. A devout Catholic, sainthood is not out of the question for this icon. RIP, Officer McDonald.” — Jim Cull.
