SECOND COP KILLER GUILTYBy ALEX GINSBERG February 17, 2009 A Brooklyn jury yesterday convicted a second ex-con on trial for the brutal slaying of rookie cop Russel Timoshenko following a routine 2007 traffic stop. Lee Woods, 31, now faces mandatory life in prison when he's sentenced April 2 for the murder of Timoshenko, the attempted murder of his partner, Herman Yan, and two counts of gun possession. Prosecutors said Woods was behind the wheel of a stolen BMW SUV on July 9, 2007, when his cohorts, Dexter Bostic, 36, and Robert Ellis, 35, opened fire on the officers at the corner of Rogers and Lefferts avenues in Crown Heights. Bostic was convicted of all charges and is serving a life sentence. Ellis was convicted only of weapon possession and is serving 15 years. Woods' jury of three women and nine men acquitted him of one count of weapon possession related to the .45-caliber Llama pistol that Bostic used to kill Timoshenko, 23 |
