There isn’t a
police officer or Academy recruit in the city who isn’t familiar
with Rodman’s Neck. Some may not be sure of the street location
of the 74 Pct. in Brooklyn or the 107 Pct. in Queens, but nobody needs
a map to the isolated compound in the northeast Bronx adjacent to City
Island. If you haven’t been to the 54 acres that were once part
of Pelham Bay Park and that have served as the NYPD’s chief firing
range for the better part of six decades, you aren’t wearing blue.
