PBA PRESIDENT ON MAYOR’S CLAIM
THAT PBA “REFUSES TO NEGOTIATE”
ON WNYC’S BRIAN LEHRER SHOW

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“We have attempted to negotiate with the Mayor for three years. He has offered periods of zero raises followed by miniscule increases that wouldn’t even keep up with the rate of inflation, despite the fact that our police officers are paid 34% less than officers in jurisdictions locally and nationally. He says his door is always open, but ‘take it or leave it’ is not negotiation. His dismissive response to our protests might sound good on the radio, but the reality is if he continues to refuse to support New York City police officers, then officers' morale will remain at rock bottom and their frustration will only grow.”
