PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:
“Body-worn cameras present serious concerns for the rights and safety of both police officers and the public, and those concerns need to be addressed before the cameras are widely deployed. While paying police officers for wearing the cameras will not resolve these issues, it would at least signal a recognition of the the increasing duties and burdens that NYC police officer have been asked to assume without any additional compensation. PBA members do a difficult and dangerous job, one that is different from the job of any other city worker. They remain the lowest paid police officers in this area. They deserve more than any of the proposals the City has put on the table so far."
