To all Members:

Today, the PERB panel issued our third consecutive pattern-breaking contract award that also breaks pay parity with firefighters for the first time in history.

While it is a contract that awards police officers more than any other union received during that round, we believe that it does not go nearly far enough in satisfying the Taylor Law's requirement of comparable pay to other local police departments.  For that reason, the PBA did not sign the award and will issue a dissenting opinion on the award.

The PBA will immediately approach the city to open discussions for our 2006/08 contract.

Members can view the actual PERB award document by clicking here.

The PBA’s press release regarding the award is available by clicking here.

Fraternally,
Patrick J. Lynch
President
