PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post: “Far too many routine calls are turning into all-out brawls, and the reason is obvious: our justice system keeps releasing the same violent, repeat offenders, and they keep attacking cops when we try to lock them up again.”

December 21, 2024

The PBA president is quoted in the NY Post: “We have a police staffing crisis, a violent recidivism crisis and dozens of other pressing public safety problems. But instead of fixing those issues, this bill tries to solve a problem that doesn’t exist.”

December 21, 2024

The PBA president is quoted in Gothamist: “The hateful anti-police rhetoric that inspired [Ramos and Liu’s] killer is still far too prevalent, and it’s still putting cops and our families at risk. To truly honor the memory of these two heroes, we need the public to rally behind the cops who carry on their work.”

December 18, 2024

The PBA president is quoted in the Daily News: “Cops aren’t ‘hiding out’ — they are burned out. We’re almost 7,000 police officers short of our peak staffing. We’re losing more than 230 cops a month, and hiring is not keeping up with attrition. Shuffling cops’ assignments or squeezing them for even more mandatory overtime is only going to drive more away. The city should be investing in attracting and retaining the finest police officers, not blaming them for the staffing problems management created.”

The event is featured on NBC 4 News and Pix 11 News.

PBA President  Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post, Daily News, amNY and Newsday: “We’re thankful to this judge who understands the importance of keeping this attempted cop killer off the streets and behind bars for a long, long time. He decided to shoot a New York City police officer in full uniform. Then he stood over him and tried to assassinate him. Thank God that didn’t happen.”

In a Daily News opinion column, PBA President Patrick Hendry makes the case for keeping repeat violent offenders off the streets.

November 21, 2024

PBA President  Patrick Hendry is quoted in the Daily News, Newsday, Politico, Gothamist NY Times, Fox 5 News and 1010 WINS: “…The challenges confronting police officers remain the same. We are critically understaffed, massively overworked and completely unsupported by a justice system and an oversight regime that care more about punishing cops than helping us get dangerous criminals off the streets.”

November 21, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the Daily News, NY Post, amNY, ABC 7 News, NBC 4 News, New York 1, and CBS radio. Hendry said the criminal justice system is “failing New Yorkers. When (this officer) responded to that robbery in progress, he confronted this individual and he didn’t know what he was confronting. He didn’t know he was confronting someone who was arrested 17 times…and someone who was arrested seven times while he was on lifetime parole. Why was he out on the street? Each time he was arrested, why wasn’t he remanded?”

November 20, 2024

PBA President  Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post, amNY and CBS 2 News, NBC 4 News, and CBS News radio: “I can tell you this — all New Yorkers, you can depend on New York City police officers to do our jobs. We will continue to take dangerous criminals off the streets. We have your back. I can tell you who doesn’t have your back — our criminal justice system. It continues to let us down every single day. New York City police officers are sick and tired of being assaulted on the streets. It has to end. We need all New Yorkers once and for all to demand change in our criminal justice system.”

November 13, 2024

PBA President  Patrick Hendry is quoted in the Daily News and Newsday: “This case could not have been any clearer. This individual was carrying a loaded gun on our streets. He attacked an innocent bus passenger for no reason. He was determined to get away with those crimes at any cost, even if it meant murdering a New York City police officer. He didn’t succeed thanks to the courage and skill of our brother Brett Boller and his fellow police officers. We’re grateful that he is being held accountable with this verdict. Now he must receive the longest sentence the law allows.”

November 12, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post: “Hendry pointed to an 'ongoing epidemic of assaults’ against New York’s Finest, and said anyone in the country illegally who commits such a crime must serve time and then be immediately deported. To ensure the department has the resources it needs, he said, ‘we need our federal partners to continue to do their job to protect those who protect New Yorkers.’”

November 12, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in Newsday: "This study confirms once again that the NYPD’s staffing crisis has become a vicious cycle. Cops are frustrated, burned out and leaving in droves, which only makes the workload more unsustainable for cops who remain."

November 7, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted on 1010 WINS and in Gothamist: “This study confirms once again that the NYPD’s staffing crisis has become a vicious cycle. Cops are frustrated, burned out and leaving in droves, which only makes the workload more unsustainable for the cops who remain.”

November 7, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted on Fox 5 News and in the NY Post: “This is yet another shameful twist in a case that has seen far too many. The cycle of re-victimizing hero 9/11 families needs to end. Our government needs to find a way to fix this immediately. Justice cannot wait any longer.”

October 25, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the Daily News and on Fox 5 News and 1010 WINS: “I spoke to (the officer) the other day, and he told me what he went through for the last year and a half. Three surgeries, constant physical therapy. He said to me, the things that were once routine are no longer routine. He relied on others to do the basic things in life — get out of bed, change his clothes.”

October 20, 2024

PBA President Patrick Hendry is  quoted  in the NY Post: “Police Officer Robert Venable was his family’s rock, but now they’re facing an incredibly tough fight without him. We cannot let them fight alone. We need every New Yorker to step up and support them. . . . Send the parole board a message that his killer should never walk free.”
