A John Jay College of Criminal Justice professor and antifa activist is facing a firestorm after tweets emerged on Friday of him claiming it's a “privilege” to “teach future dead cops.”
“Some of y'all might think it sucks being an anti-fascist teaching at John Jay College but I think it's a privilege to teach future dead cops,” Prof. Michael Isaacson tweeted back in August.
Isaacson, who works in the CUNY criminal justice college’s economics department, followed up the controversial claim by seemingly describing a scene where he uses a “blade” on a former student:
“Weren't you my econ professor?”
“See? You had the opportunity.”

As the backlash from the tweets started to intensify, the head of New York City's largest police union, Pat Lynch, condemned Isaacson's comments and called for his firing.
According to The New York Post, the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association boss wrote in a letter, in part:
It is absolutely outrageous that an individual who holds and expresses these views could be employed by any academic institution, much less one that counts an overwhelming number of New York City police officers as among its students, alumni and faculty members.
Isaacson's tweets began making the rounds after his Thursday appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” where many online felt the self-proclaimed member of the antifa movement was outmatched by the Fox News host in a debate on using violence to combat speech.
During the segment, Carlson asked Isaacson whether or not white supremacist Richard Spencer had the right to speak in public.
Isaacson said in response, “When he speaks in public, what he is doing — he is publicly recruiting people to his very violent movement, very violent ideology.”
The professor added that Spencer had the right to speak, but not “unopposed.”
Isaacson did not immediately return a request for comment.
