PRESS RELEASE

February 19, 2013

Pat Lynch reacts to an appellate court decision that the law only provides full medical coverage for line of duty injuries for active police officers

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“We are reviewing the decision with an eye towards appeal but we still have to wonder why retired New York City Police Officers who were injured on the job are being treated differently from virtually every other government employee in New York State whose line of duty injury benefits continue into retirement.  An injured police officer should not have to shoulder the burden for an injury incurred in the service of the city.”
