PBA President comments on candidate Thompson’s latest stop-question-and-frisk proposals

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Candidate Thompson’s latest stop-question-and-frisk proposals are on the right track in as much as they stress safety over statistics, call for an end to quotas and recognize the critical need for hiring many more police officers. But the proposal requiring police officers to provide every person stopped with a ticket explaining the stop is just one more of the many not very practical ideas that have emerged in this debate that threaten to turn police officers into pencil-pushers and report-writers instead of crime-fighters, which risks their safety and the public’s safety.”
