PBA president Lynch discusses on the impact of new stop and frisk law

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“This legislation has placed police officers in the decidedly un-American position of having to prove themselves innocent of an accusation.  Lawsuits against police officers will take a very serious toll and will, tragically, impact public safety by putting our members in a defensive, reactive position.  As that occurs, the criminals will be empowered and more crimes will be committed.  That is the tragic reality of it and that will be the shameful legacy that the 2013 City Council will have left our city unless the courts rescue us from this madness.”
