A record number of NYPD cops looked into retirement from the department Tuesday night, as hundreds packed a Queens banquet hall for a pension benefit seminar.
Union head Patrick Lynch says “bad morale” is behind the record 850 NYPD officers — at least three times the normal number — who attended the yearly event in Queens Village. “Tonight shows just how bad morale is,” Lynch told The Post.
“It’s an all-time low, because of lack of support to the police officers ... They’re just leaving because it’s too dangerous to stay,” said Lynch, adding that cops were upset with “increased oversight, increased responsibility and decreased salary.”
