Statement by PBA President Patrick J. Lynch on possible police layoffs

PBA President Patrick J. Lynch said:

"The NYPD lost 3,845 officers last year, the largest one-year attrition in the department’s history. Laying off police officers as this city struggles to fight terrorism and rebuild its economy is not an option. The NYPD must be exempt from any additional cuts because without adequate number of police officers, this city is not viable for business or people. Our streets must be safe for any thing else to matter."
