PRESS RELEASE

October 7, 2004

Protect undercover IDs

New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Judge Sifton is making a dangerous job even more dangerous. This is not play-acting. This is real-life where dedicated police officers risk their lives to protect the community from the scourge of illegal drug use. The judge’s belief that this brave detective can continue to operate in other areas of this city is naïve and only serves to make police officer’s job more dangerous and difficult. We urge New York State’s legislators to support Assemblyman Gianaris’ bill to protect the identities of undercover police officers.”
