PRESS RELEASE

April 2, 2009

PBA President reacts to the life without parole sentencing of Lee Woods in the killing of PO Russel Timoshenko and wounding of PO Herman Yan

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“We think today that what Judge Gerges said hit it right on the head. The pain will never end for the Timoshenko family. And for the city of New York and every police officer on patrol today and who will slide behind the wheel of the radio car tomorrow, the pain will never go away. But one thing is certain today: this dirtbag will never walk the streets of New York to hurt anyone, to kill anyone that wears the uniform or any citizen, every again. We ask the people of this city to recognize what police officers do each and everyday and when they put their head on their pillow in safety and when they bow their head in prayer to remember the Timoshenko family whose pain will never go away.”
