PRESS RELEASE

July 2, 2010

PBA reacts to the release early this morning of cop-killer Shauaib Raheem

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“It is disgraceful that the State Division of Parole found it fitting to release the man who assassinated police officer Stephen Gilroy back onto the streets of Brooklyn. It is no surprise that this horrible and controversial decision was made by two parole commissioners as they were leaving the board. New York State needs a death penalty that can withstand constitutional muster but absent that, no cop-killer should ever be paroled from prison.”
