PBA President calls for postponement of Marathon; says police resources are spread too thin

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Parts of our city are completely devastated and our members have left their own families and problems to help the city work through this disaster.  NYPD staffing is down by 7,000 while our work load has increased.  We are spread far too thin fighting crime, terrorism and the effects of this disaster and these valuable police resources should not be redeployed to cover what is essentially a citywide party.  The New York City Marathon should be postponed until the city is fully recovered.”
