PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:
“Anyone who is seriously concerned about the health and well-being of this city understands that public safety is the engine that powers New York’s economy. Businesses flourish on safe streets. Tourists flock to safe streets and people want to live and raise their families in safe communities. For that single reason alone, the City of New York must fully fund public safety agencies and it must fairly compensate those who risk their lives to keep the city safe and economically viable. Failure to do so will condemn the city to second -class economic status.”
