PRESS RELEASE

December 11, 2014

Pat Lynch slams a horrendous rap video, forwards it for investigation and condemns it for turning tragedy into danger

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

"This video goes well beyond the parameters for protected speech and constitutes a serious threat to the lives of police officers.  Just as freedom of speech does not give you the right to yell ‘fire’ in a crowded theater when there is none, you are not free of responsibility when you incite others to break laws and inflict harm.  The PBA has forwarded this video to the department for investigation and for consideration of possible criminal charges.  Aside from the blatant threat to police officers, it is exactly the kind of despicable and inflammatory language that converts a tragedy into real danger on streets.
