PRESS RELEASE

PBA also stands with Rafael Ramos Foundation in parade boycott

The foundation is named for fallen NYPD Police Officer Rafael Ramos, who was assassinated in December 2014 along with his partner, Police Officer Wenjian Liu. The NYC PBA announced earlier today its support for the NYPD Hispanic Society's decision to boycott the Puerto Rican Day Parade due to the participation of FALN terrorist Oscar López Rivera.

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“The PBA also stands with the Rafael Ramos Foundation, which has announced that it will not participate in the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Police Officer Ramos was a proud Puerto Rican and a hero who sacrificed his life for his fellow New Yorkers. He is exactly the type of person who should be honored at the parade, rather than a remorseless terrorist. We are deeply disappointed that his family members and colleagues have been deprived of that opportunity.”
