False narrative causes abuse of police

PBA President Patrick J. Lynch said: 

“Sadly, this is the result of years of elected officials demonizing police officers and decriminalizing abhorrent behavior.  They have eroded respect for the uniform and the shield with their constant false narrative about police brutality and this is the result.  New York City police officers are professionals who will keep doing their jobs against this tide of abuse.  But we will only be successful in reducing crime if the good people of that community lend us a hand by showing support for police, sharing information and by condemning this kind of disgusting, uncivilized and cowardly behavior.”
