NYC PBA Statement on 50-A Repeal

PBA President Patrick J. Lynch said:

“The unfettered release of police personnel records will allow unstable people to target police officers and our families for harassment or worse. A dangerous cop-hater only needs a police officer's name, linked to a few false or frivolous complaints, to be inspired to commit violence. While lawmakers pound their chests about exposing ‘bad cops,’ all of the ‘good cops’ and our families are now in jeopardy. Newly released records will be stitched together to further the false anti-cop narrative. That narrative killed our brothers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. It killed our sister Miosotis Familia. Our lawmakers are inviting another tragedy.”
